Sprout Pharmaceuticals raises $17M
Drug maker Sprout Pharmaceuticals has raised $17 million through an equity fundraiser, according to SEC documents. The company has more than $2 million left to raise in the round. A total of 55 investors contributed to the fundraiser. Raleigh-based Sprout focuses on commercializing products that address unmet medical needs in the field of female sexual health, according to its website. Triangle Business Journal previously reported that Sprout raised $5 million earlier this year.

BioNano Genomics Secures $10 Million in Series B-1 Financing
BioNano Genomics, Inc. has raised $10 million in a Series B-1 round of equity financing. Existing investors Battelle Ventures, Domain Associates and Gund Investment Corporation participated in the round. BioNano Genomics combines the latest in biotech and nanotech to deliver an altogether better way of gaining a fully informed understanding of genomes.
July 2nd, 2012 – Seattle, WA
Targeted Growth Raises $5M in Funding
Targeted Growth, Inc., a Seattle, WA-based agricultural bioscience company, has raised just under $5m in new funding. The company intends to use the funding to continue to build out its portfolio of technologies that increase crop yield.
Founded in 1999 and led by newly appointed Chairman and CEO Bob Woods, Targeted Growth focuses on developing products with enhanced yield and improved quality for the agriculture and energy industries.

GeneAssess Receives $500K from Foundation Venture Capital Group
GeneAssess, Inc., a New Jersey-based biotechnology company, has received a commitment of up to $500k from Foundation Venture Capital Group (FVCG). The company intends to use the funding to validate FRY, a cancer molecular signature gene discovered its scientists that could provide a more accurate diagnostic biomarker for cancer staging.

Anal drug delivery co RDD Pharma raises $7.15m from OrbiMed
RDD Pharma Ltd. has raised $7.15 million in its first financing round from OrbiMed Advisors LLC. RDD Pharma, which is developing a drug delivery technology for the direct and controlled delivery of drugs to the anal canal, has drugs under development for the treatment of anal fissures and spinal cord injury related fecal incontinence.

Ceradis Raises €4.5M in Funding
Ceradis, a Wageningen, the Netherlands-based company developing crop protection products, has raised €4.5m in funding. Backers include existing investor Value8 and new shareholder Rabo Ventures. The company intends to use the funding to accelerate its growth.

July 2nd, 2012 – Barcelona, Spain
Ysios leads €2m round for Inbiomotion
Ysios Capital has led a €2m series-A funding round for Spanish molecular diagnostics company Inbiomotion. Ysios acquired a majority stake in the company. Co-investors included private foundations and corporates. The funding round will support further development and clinical trials for the company’s proprietary biomarker, leading towards regulatory approval.
